I am a horse-husband, father and engineer living in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. I've spent my career to date working in engineering consulting, helping fascinating people from around the world solve complex problems. In particular I've spent a significant amount of time in the arctic, helping communities and mines address problems related to water treatment and their relationship with the environment they’re living and working in.
Through my childhood, education and professional career, writing and photography have been a constant. I've been writing, taking photos and telling stories since I could talk to people and take notes. I would run around with a polaroid camera, taking photos that would eventually end up in small community newsletter I used to write and self-publish on my parent’s black and white printer. I loved bringing stories of people to our community, and the interplay between the written word and a photograph; how each helps tell a full story in it’s own way.
This is a place for me to continue to tell stories of people and places, and how they interact. Their struggles, their triumphs, and the nuance and texture that adds depth to their lived experience. I'll tell stories about anything I want to get to know more about, through my writing and through the lens.
